Nastech's management team has a wealth of experience in obtaining and protecting intellectual property assets with over 200 patents and applications related to both our research and development candidates. As a partner Nastech provides access to this existing portfolio through our collaborations with partners. We have also licensed enabling IP when it represents an opportunity for further enhancement of Nastech technology. Creating and protecting the value generated by our technology and products is at the core of our business strategy.

Nastech's IP strategy focuses on establishing a broad patent estate based on our research into drug delivery technologies and around the development of unique products. We are targeting, but are not limited to, the creation of IP in the following key areas:

Drug Delivery

• Tight Junction modulation for active drug delivery
• Nasal drug delivery of small molecules, peptides and proteins
• Delivery solutions for RNAi therapeutics
• Direct drug delivery to the Central Nervous System (CNS)

Development Products

As Nastech continues to discover and develop new targets and therapeutic compounds like PYY, we will continue to look for ways to make approved drugs more effective, safer, and easier to use.
